Welcome to Mills & Burch Publishers

Mills & Burch Publishers is an independent publishing support service helping authors turn ideas, memories and stories into finished books.

We work with writers at different stages of their journey — from those with a full manuscript to those who only have a rough idea and need guidance, structure and encouragement.

We support authors with book planning, formatting, design, KDP preparation and practical publishing advice, helping each story become something clear, polished and ready to share.

Author Support

We understand that every book starts differently. Some authors come to us with a full manuscript, while others only have a rough idea, a memory, or a story they are still trying to shape.

At Mills & Burch Publishers, we offer patient, practical guidance to help authors feel supported through the process. We help with structure, confidence, clarity and the small publishing steps that can otherwise feel overwhelming.

We believe good books do not always begin perfectly — they often begin with one brave idea.

For Authors

You do not need to have everything finished before contacting us. You may have a complete manuscript, a half-written draft, a collection of memories, or just the beginning of an idea.

We help authors work through the process step by step, at a pace that feels manageable. Some books need structure, some need polishing, and some simply need the right support to become what they were meant to be.

If you have a story you want to tell, we can help you begin shaping it into a book.

How We Work

At Mills & Burch Publishers, we help authors bring their books to publication without charging large upfront service fees.

Once an author agreement has been signed, we provide publishing support on a royalty-share basis. This means our payment comes from the royalties generated by book sales after publication.

Our support may include book planning, structure, formatting, design, KDP preparation, publishing guidance and practical author support.

Before work begins, the agreement clearly explains how the book will be managed, how royalties are shared, and what each person is responsible for. This keeps the process clear, fair and transparent from the start.

Doodle is supposed to be a perfect poodle. At least, that is what Olive thinks. Every morning, Olive brushes Doodle’s fluffy cloud fur, adds bows, straightens scarves, and tries very hard to make Doodle look beautiful. There is just one problem. Doodle doesn’t like that. Doodle likes puddles. Doodle likes mud. Doodle likes zooming, splashing, chasing pigeons, causing chaos, and being completely, wonderfully Doodle. With a troublemaking pigeon called Percy, a very offended garden gnome, far too much mud, and one unforgettable rainbow paint disaster, Olive slowly begins to understand that Doodle was never meant to be perfect. Doodle Doesn’t Like That is a funny, muddy, joy-filled picture book about being yourself, loving what makes you different, and learning that perfect is nowhere near as much fun as free.
